With the likely termination of James Rodríguez’s contract, São Paulo should go into the market looking to strengthen the offensive sector of the squad led by coach Thiago Carpini. And one name is already being studied by the Tricolor: Erik Lamela, a midfielder from Sevilla.

Lamela is at the end of his contract with the Andalusian team and, according to information published by the Spanish newspaper “As”, could arrive “for free” at São Paulo in the middle of the year.

The Argentine was signed by Sevilla in 2021, when he left Tottenham after eight seasons. With the Spanish team, Erik has 16 goals and seven assists in 88 matches.

The portal also states that São Paulo are interested in Ángel Di María, a world champion with Argentina who plays for Benfica. His contract with the Portuguese side also expires in June this year.
