São Paulo have agreed the final details to sign Brazilian striker André Silva, the player will fly to Brazil on Thursday (29). The medical examinations and the final contractual details should be settled this Friday (01).
The 26-year-old striker had been at Vitória de Guimarães, in Portugal, since 2022. This season, the Brazilian has thirteen goals and two assists in twenty-eight games.
Revealed by Atlético Diadema, he also played for Internacional, after which he went straight to Portugal. Before joining Vitória de Guimarães, he played for Rio Ave and Arouca (both Portuguese teams). He never played professionally in Brazil.
In the last transfer window, André almost went to Hellas Verona in Italy, but the deal fell through. Since the beginning of February, the player had been scouted by another Brazilian team, Vasco. However, he opted for São Paulo because he wanted to play in the Libertadores.
São Paulo will pay the Portuguese team 3.5 million euros (around 19 million reais) for the player. The challenge was to convince Vitória de Guimarães to accept the payment in installments. It’s worth noting that Andre can only be registered for Paulistão if the team qualifies for the quarter-finals.
The player arrives to be Calleri’s immediate replacement, this is the team’s fifth reinforcement for this season.
São Paulo’s next match is at Morumbis, a derby against Palmeiras, Sunday (03) at 20h. The Tricolor are top of group D with 18 points, while Novorizontino are second with the same score. The difference lies in the goal difference, 7 for Tricolor and 4 for Tigre.
