After opening up to competition and receiving seven offers, Palmeiras has two companies as its main options to supply the club’s sports material from 2025. Verdão has a contract with Puma until the end of this year, but has been studying whether to renew with the current supplier or sign with another. In this dispute, the current supplier is one of the favorites, as is Adidas.
Palmeiras wants to resolve the situation in the first half of the year, to speed up the production of the uniform for next year. In order to close a deal with a new company, the club has been considering a number of issues, such as the companies’ production and distribution capacity. However, what Verdão is really looking at is the possibility of increasing its royalties. The current contract with Puma brings in R$42 million.
The current contract with Puma gives Palmeiras exclusivity in the Brazilian market. However, the supplier has a global agreement with the City Group, which acquired Bahia last year. Because of this, Verdão is considering a change. However, the first offer pleased the directors.
On the other hand, Adidas, which supplied the club’s shirts for 12 years (2006 to 2018), has signaled its desire to return, after ending its contract with São Paulo at the end of 2023. Verdão limited itself to saying that the competition is open. However, president Leila Pereira has stated that the best offer will be chosen.
Palmeiras will have decisions to make at the end of the year
The final stretch of 2024 will be one of big decisions for the Alviverde board. After all, in addition to the supplier, Palmeiras will still have to resolve next year’s agreement for sponsorship and advertising boards at Allianz Parque matches. It’s also worth remembering that Verdão will go through presidential elections at the end of this season.
