Forward Gabigol is a doubt for Flamengo to face Fluminense on Saturday in the semi-final of the Carioca Championship. The red-and-black No. 10 trained separately from the rest of his teammates for the third day in a row on Thursday, and this Friday’s activity will determine whether he will play in the derby.
Last Friday, Flamengo reported that the striker had a muscle problem, but did not specify the injury. The following day, Gabigol was left out of the win over Madureira, which gave the Rubro-Negro the Guanabara Cup title. Ge first reported the player’s condition on Thursday.
In addition to Gabigol, right-back Wesley is in a similar situation. The 43-year-old missed the game against Madureira, also with muscle problems. As a result, he is also a doubt for the first leg of the semi-final in the state tournament.
Gabigol has been Pedro’s backup this season, but has been on the pitch in every match. He has only started twice and scored on both occasions, against Sampaio Corrêa and Volta Redonda. They were his only two goals of the season.
With regard to the team that will take the field in Fla-Flu, Tite has basically the rest of the squad available. Defender Léo Pereira is expected to return to the starting line-up, as is striker Everton Cebolinha. At left-back, Ayrton Lucas and MatÃas Viña are vying for a place. FabrÃcio Bruno, who broke his nose against Madureira, is expected to play. Newcomer Léo Ortiz should be on the bench.
