Just over four months before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Gérald Darmanin, France’s interior minister, has said that the opening night of the event will break the current attendance record.

According to Gérard, 326,000 tickets will be distributed for the opening of the second edition of the Summer Olympics to be held in the French capital, which will take place outside a stadium for the first time in history, and will be held on the banks of the River Seine.

The current attendance record for an Olympic Games opening ceremony belongs to the 2008 edition in China. On that occasion, the Beijing Olympic Stadium welcomed 80,000 spectators.

The Paris edition of the Olympics will begin on July 26 and will close on August 11. A total of 32 sports will be represented in the competition.
