While playing at home, Roma and Milan both won well in the Europa League on Thursday (07), advancing to the quarter-finals of the competition. The Giallorossi overcame Brighton, from England, 4-0, while the Rossoneri beat Slavia Prague, from the Czech Republic, 4-2.
The victories also contribute to the Italian coefficient, practically ensuring that the country will have an extra place in the Champions League, according to UEFA’s new criteria. Thus, the five best teams in Serie A should be able to play in the main European competition next season.
The return matches take place next Thursday (14), now in Brighton and Prague respectively.

At the Stadio Olimpico, Roma thrashed the Premiere League’s ninth-placed team. Daniele De Rossi’s side had no difficulty in dominating the match and building a big lead.

Milan win with more emotion
Milan, meanwhile, had more work to do to overcome Slavia Prague at the San Siro. Stefano Pioli’s men opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Frenchman Giroud, but conceded the equalizer later on through Doudera.
At that point, the Czech Republic side were already a player down thanks to Diouf’s dismissal in the 26th minute. The full-back made a reckless tackle on Pulisic, catching the American’s ankle.
The Italians regained the lead in the first half through Reijnder and Loftus-Cheek. In the second half, Slavia Prague improved, got a goal through Ivan Schranz and came close to equalizing.
At the end of the match, Rafael Leão made a great run down the left and hit a cross, but the goal was scored by Pulisic.
