The trial of the São Paulo players and managers at the Court of Sports Justice (TJD-SP) will take place on Thursday 14th. Right-back Rafinha, midfielder Wellington Rato and striker Calleri were the targets of accusations over the confusion in the derby against Palmeiras in the Campeonato Paulista. Each player could be suspended for up to six games.

The trial will take place before the quarter-finals of Paulistão, which could leave the Tricolor without a squad if they qualify. The guarantee of a place in the knockout stage, however, depends on a win on Sunday against Ituano. In any case, a harsher penalty could become a problem in the medium term for coach Thiago Carpini.

Rafinha, Rato and Calleri offended the refereeing team led by Matheus Delgado Candançan, who reported the insults in the minutes. Although only Calleri is in good physical condition, since the other two are injured, a possible punishment promises to become a headache for the coaching staff. But the punishment may not be limited to this area, as soccer director Carlos Belmonte is also in the dock. He could get up to 270 days in jail for calling Abel Ferreira a ‘Portuguese piece of shit’.

Along with Belmonte, president Júlio Casares and assistant director Fernando Bracalle Ambrogi are also facing charges. The trial, on the 14th, will take place at 6pm.
