After all, the barbs between São Paulo and Palmeiras seem far from over after the confusion in the derby last Sunday (3). On Thursday, former São Paulo player Hernanes took a swipe at Palmeiras president Leila Pereira. In a post on social media, he responded to the president’s statements about the tricolore protests after the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Leila, who had criticized São Paulo’s managers, such as Carlos Belmonte, for calling coach Abel Ferreira ‘Portuguese de m.’, considered that there is envy against the coach. She said these words in an interview with the ‘ge’ portal, echoed by the sportv’ channel networks. Hernanes wasted no time in claiming that the Palmeirenses had fallen for ‘the winner’s tale’.

“No, dear Leila, it’s not envy! It’s just that you’ve fallen for the winner’s tale! It’s very difficult to win and remain humble, you’ve won a lot! Congratulations on your work! But winning doesn’t give you the right to stick your nose in where it doesn’t belong! Wanting to referee the game, wanting to change Brazilian soccer doesn’t work. Put yourselves in your place! And keep winning if you can! Arrogance, arrogance and this snobbish way of being, the people can’t take it anymore,” wrote the player.

Already through to the quarter-finals of Paulistão, Palmeiras are still waiting to be joined by São Paulo, who have to beat Ituano on Sunday. But the war of words continues.
