Operário beat Vila Nova 2-0 away from home on Thursday night (7). They qualified for the third round of the Copa do Brasil. The Fantasma’s opponents will be drawn by lot, with no date yet set. The winning goals came in the first half, from Ronaldo and Maxwell.

With the unprecedented place secured, the Paranaenses put R$2.2 million in the coffers and, after all, turn their attention to the Paranaense Championship. On Monday (11), the club faces the Azuriz in the quarter-finals. Vila Nova, however, closes out the 2024 calendar.

Operário bosses the game

First of all, it’s no exaggeration to say that the game practically started 1-0 to Operário. That’s because 19 seconds in, Pará crossed and Ronaldo opened the scoring. Better on the pitch, the team from Paraná looked for a second goal and got it in the 38th minute, when Ronaldo passed to Maxwell to extend the lead.

In the second half, Operário’s pace dropped and Vila Nova even tried to reduce their opponents’ lead, but missed a few shots. On the biggest of these, Guilherme Santos hit a shot to the left of goalkeeper Rafael Santos. After that, the visitors controlled the pressure well and managed to qualify without any major scares.
