Influencer and businesswoman Bianca Andrade is back in Brazil, after months of studying abroad. “Day to return home after the bravest experience of my life and I want to take this moment to bring some reflection,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I finish this stage with the pleasant feeling of a dream, fulfilled and ready to start a new one, full of baggage and transformations inside me (and speaking English every day with a cat boy). Yes, my eating, praying, studying and loving happened… literally,” Bianca added.
Studying abroad is increasingly within the reach of those who dream of an international degree. With costs comparable to those of renowned private universities in Brazil, such as FGV or PUC, countries such as the United States, Portugal, Germany and Ireland stand out not only for their educational quality, but also for their unique opportunities for professional and personal development.
The Student Lounge, held in São Paulo on March 16 and 17, was attended by representatives of 35 U.S. universities and institutions from other countries, including Germany, Portugal and Ireland, offering an overview of the global educational options and advantages of each destination.
The event also conducts an annual survey, And the data show that the significant majority of the event’s participants are women. These women, who demonstrate greater independence, actively seek to improve their professional trajectories. Thus, their growing interest in international courses is justified, in view of the main objective of standing out in an increasingly fierce job market.
Attendees of the event are also increasingly anticipating their plans for a degree abroad, considering this as a crucial investment in their future careers. Over the past four years, there has been a notable increase in the number of high school students attending, indicating a growing interest in this perspective. In addition, there has been a considerable increase in the presence of visitors who are already enrolled in undergraduate courses.
Driven by the concern with a highly competitive market, which demands differentiated professionals, many seek to further improve their qualifications through postgraduate programs, such as master’s and doctoral degrees, or choose to complete their degree abroad. This choice not only offers an international perspective, but also, in some cases, allows for the extension of work in the field, thanks to favorable policies from some countries. In addition, the sandwich degree modality is also sought after by many, making it possible for the student to continue their studies at a foreign university.
As for destinations, the United States maintains its leadership as the most desired destination for studies by Brazilians, followed by Canada. Portugal, since 2019, occupies the third position on the list of most sought-after destinations, surpassing the United Kingdom and Spain.
Spain, on the other hand, emerges as the most sought-after alternative for those who prefer a non-Anglo-Saxon environment. Australia, France and Italy occupy the sixth, seventh and eighth positions respectively. Ireland continues to be highly sought after due to its policy of accepting work-study programs.
The language course leads the preference when it comes to the most sought-after types of courses, thanks to its more affordable costs and duration. At the same time, there is a significant demand for undergraduate and MBA degrees, followed by programs aimed at professional advancement, such as those that grant certificates, diplomas, and master’s degrees.
The English language maintains its dominant position as the most sought-after language for learning. However, over the past two years, there has been an increase in demand for Spanish courses. The Frenchman remains firmly the third most popular option among the public, while the Italian and German are vying for fourth place in this ranking.
