An unusual case occurred at a gym in the United States resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old man, accused of indecent exposure and giving false information to authorities.
The case happened last week, when the man entered the gym’s women’s locker room, got naked and claimed to identify himself as a woman, causing discomfort among the regulars of the place.
According to witnesses, a woman who was in the locker room witnessed the man completely naked and questioned his presence there.
In response, the man claimed to identify as female and refused to leave the women’s restroom. In addition, witnesses reported that the man tried to invite a person to take a shower with him.
The gym where the incident took place, Planet Fitness, clarified that transgender women are allowed to use the women’s locker rooms, but the arrested man had never previously identified as a woman.
In a press release, the academy highlighted its zero-tolerance policy for harassment of any kind on its premises.
“At Planet Fitness, the safety of our employees and members is our top priority, and we have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind in our clubs. We have taken immediate action to ensure the safety of club members, including notifying and working with the police,” the academy said.
In view of the events, the accused was ordered to pay a bail of $25,000.
