Man injured in incident in SalvadorReproduction TV Bahia

Four people were injured after falling into a hole in a sidewalk that gave way in Salvador (Bahia) on Monday (22). The incident occurred in front of a bus stop on Avenida Centenario, one of the main avenues in the capital of Bahia. The victims are a local shopkeeper and three people who consumed snacks at his sale.

They were pulled out of the hole with the help of passers-by. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. The victims were treated by the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU) and taken to a hospital.

Images captured by TV Bahia reveal that turbid water flowed inside the crater. The victims suffered injuries in various regions of the body and expressed discomfort due to the fall.

One of the injured individuals was a woman, an employee of the Citizen Assistance Service (SAC), located in the shopping center adjacent to the bus stop. With her garment covered in mud, she had cuts on her arm and complained of knee pain.

One woman told TV Bahia that everything happened quickly, with the water covering them, and that if it wasn’t for the help of the young people who pulled them out, they didn’t know what would have happened. “I’m very hurt, I’m sore, it was a big scare,” the woman said.

In addition, she said that the snack truck fell over the hole, causing injuries to the glass.

“I ran the risk of going down the stream. The boys pulled me so I wouldn’t go along with the stream,” she said, frightened.

In addition to her, an elderly man who also suffered the accident says he was on his way to work when the incident occurred. He was left with a bloody shirt and a head wound.

“My head is full of glass, it hurts a lot, because the cart fell on top of me. I went to earn my daily bread and this happens to us. God’s deliverance,” he lamented.

The owner of the snack cart reported that the Bahian Water and Sanitation Company (Embasa) had carried out a recent work in the area and questioned the responsibility for the damage resulting from the opening of the crater.

“Embasa did this job poorly for a week. In the rain, the crater opened. I want to see who’s going to solve this problem and pay for my loss, because I can’t afford not to work. I lost everything, the tent and the snacks.”

He further said that the crash was inevitable due to the speed of events.

“There was no way we could get out of the place, very quickly, there was no time.”
