Two athletes, whose identities have not been revealed, have been arrested in England on suspicion of taking part in a rape. The players are part of the squad of a team in the Premier League, the country’s top division of football. The information is from the British newspaper “The Sun”.
At first, local police detained only one of the suspected players, who is 19 years old. The authorities interrupted the training of the athlete’s team and began to question him. He is suspected of being involved as an accomplice to rape and is also related to an assault case. The player was taken to the police station and was later arrested.
The day after the first player’s arrest, another athlete, who would be a teammate of the suspect, was also questioned for being involved in the alleged rape and was arrested. This second sportsman is also 19 years old. The players, however, made bail and were eventually released.
Also according to the British press, the accusation of rape against the athletes would have been made last Friday (19), by the victim herself, hours after the crime happened.
