A video that has gone viral on social media shows a piranha cutting seals from a fishing trap in Linhares, in the north of Espírito Santo. The post, made at the end of April, has already accumulated more than 230 million views.
In the video, content producer Ray Guati, from the page Linhares da Pesca, holds the piranha in his hands and brings the fish’s teeth close to a plastic seal attached to a metal railing. Quickly, the piranha cuts the three seals. Then the fish is returned to the water.
The video was made in collaboration with another fishing page, known as Jaguaré Pescas. Ray and his colleague joking about the fish’s “usefulness.”
Ray, 28, started producing sport fishing videos a few years ago as a way to generate content and make money on the internet. Her influencer profile has over 86k followers and was created in 2018.
The piranha video generated more than 17,000 comments from people all over the world. One user commented, in English, that not even the scissors in his house could accomplish what the piranha did.
Other comments suggest that the piranha is offering an automatic technology service for free.
