Last Thursday (9), Mariana Derderián lost her six-year-old son Pedro after a fire hit her home in Santiago, Chile. According to Chilevisión, the actress from Floribella noticed the smoke at dawn and managed to flee with only her eldest daughter, nine-year-old Leticia.
The artist’s ex-husband, Franciano Aravena, was warned about the fire and tried to save their son before firefighters arrived. The boy was trapped in the bedroom on the first floor of the house. The journalist suffered severe burns to his airways and is in a medically induced coma.
So far, local authorities believe that the fire started on the first floor of the house, from the contact of a heater with flammable materials. In addition, a possible electrical breakdown is also investigated.
Mariana Derderián was born in Venezuela but has lived in Chile since childhood. The actress has participated in several soap operas and series, such as Gatas y Tuercas (2005), Amor por Accidente (2007), S.O.S. Corazón Rebelde (2009), Los Angeles de Estela (2009), Mi Bella Genio (2009), Soltera Otra Vez (2012) and Mamá Mechona (2014).
