On May 17th, Pastry Day is celebrated! How about taking advantage of the date by preparing a delicious pastry in the air fryer? Here’s how practical and quick it is:

Ingredients

:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour;
  • 1 teaspoon of salt;
  • 4 tablespoons of margarine;
  • 1/2 cup ice water;
  • Filling of your choice (ground beef, cheese, shredded chicken, ham and cheese etc);
  • Oil or cooking spray for greasing it.

Dough preparation

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt;
  2. Add the margarine to the mixture and use your fingers to crumble until it turns into coarse crumbs;
  3. Gradually add the ice water to the mixture, stirring with a fork until the dough begins to come together;
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently knead into a uniform ball. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Assembling the pastries

  1. : Divide the dough into small portions of the desired size and roll out each portion on a floured surface until very thin;
  2. Place a portion of your chosen filling in the center of each piece of dough;
  3. Fold the dough over the filling, forming a semicircle, and press the edges with a fork to seal tightly.
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C for about 5 minutes;
  2. Lightly grease the basket with oil or cooking spray;
  3. Place the pastries leaving a small space between them to allow air circulation;
  4. Bake the pastries in the air fryer for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through to ensure even cooking;
  5. Remove the pastries from the air fryer and serve hot.

This recipe should yield about 10 to 12 pastries, depending on the size.
