not just the most basic cars that get recalled; luxury sports cars are also subject to this. This time, the recall involves the Lamborghini Urus, the fastest SUV in the world, in the Urus Performante and Urus S versions, 2023/2024 models. According to the Italian brand, only 2% of models are involved in the recall, but it already affects more than 2,130 vehicles.
The defect is related to the rivets that secure the hood lock striker. Lamborghini has identified that the rivet pins may be deformed due to a problem in the manufacturing process on the part of a supplier.
Above 150 km/h, the intense airflow exerts additional pressure on the locking mechanism, which can create small gaps between the hood and the front bumper of the vehicle.
This causes the hood to detach, and in this way, it blocks the driver’s visibility completely and can be torn off by the force of the wind, which can result in very serious accidents.
This problem began to be reported last year, with cases in Europe, leading the brand to make an investigation with the supplier of the part. Lamborghini has been working to improve the part since February and prevent the problem from occurring again. That’s because in Indonesia, a driver had the hood of his Urus detached while driving.
Between the end of June and the beginning of July, Lamborghini will ask owners to take their vehicles to a dealership for inspection and replacement of the part.
