Massage therapist Maria Graciete Alves da Silva, 36, had one of her legs torn off by a luxury car that hit the motorcycle she was riding on in Barueri, in the region& nbsp; metropolitan area of São Paulo. In an interview with  TV Globo’s Fantástico, in which he said that his dream of having a better life in the state ‘was interrupted’ with the accident.

“I came from Manaus to work and try to make a better life here in São Paulo. That dream was cut short after the accident. It hurts a lot to see a whole life forgotten and have to start all over again,” she lamented.

She has been hospitalized since last Monday (20) at the Municipal Hospital of Barueri Dr. Francisco Moran and was discharged this Sunday (26). In the interview, she spoke about her recovery after the accident: ‘mobility is very difficult’, she said.

Maria Graciete was on the back of motorcycle taxi driver Arlison da Silva Correia, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit due to a head injury, but has since been discharged.

‘Maria lost her leg, she’s not coming back. I might not have come home anymore. I have my two children who depend on me, two three-year-old boys, young,” the mototaxi driver told TV Globo’s SP2.

The woman is expected to give a statement to the Civil Police on Monday (27).

Monday (20), one of the Mercedez-Benz – which was allegedly participating in an illegal race – hit the motorcycle on which Maria Graciete and Arlison were riding. The blow was so strong that the woman’s leg was torn off at the same moment.

The drivers of the two luxury cars fled without rendering aid to the victims.

The man who was driving the vehicle that collided with the motorcycle, Carlos André Pedroni de Oliveira, presented himself to the Civil Police in Barueri to give a statement on Wednesday (22).

Speaking to reporters, he said he was not intoxicated and that “it was not a crack.” He also stated that he stopped the vehicle, but for fear of continuing at the scene due to ‘a kidnapping recently suffered’ and, therefore, fled.

Pedroni’s defense released a statement in which it reinforces that he had not drunk alcohol and was not participating in a race, being “surprised by the impact while driving.”

“Carlos went to his residence and, the next morning, when he heard the news about the accident, he immediately made himself available to the police authorities and provided all the necessary clarifications,” the statement said.

The  driver’s testimony did not convince police chief Ednelson Martins. As a result, he was indicted for very serious bodily injury, fleeing the scene of the accident and failure to provide assistance.

The driver of the other luxury car was identified as Roberto Viotto, known as the “dentist of the famous.” The Civil Police are investigating his involvement in the collision.

The dentist went to the police station to give a statement the next day, according to lawyer Silmara Viotto. “Viotto wanted to leave the vehicle there of his own free will yesterday for forensics,” the lawyer added. “It will be confirmed that the vehicle is intact, did not run over anyone and that it did not participate in a race,” he added.

The sheriff rebutted the information provided by the defenses. “We will continue with our investigation. As I’ve already said, we have to work with some technical evidence, mainly, to prove this issue of the split. The mere fact that he denies the rift with the images we have and with those that are being analyzed, does not convince us. Now, you can’t say that [that it was a split], we have to work with technical evidence,” Martins said.

“Talking about prison at this moment is complicated. But that doesn’t mean that, eventually, he [Pedroni] can’t be arrested,” said the police chief, who is now investigating the path traced by the businessman to the accident to find out if he drank before the incident.

“We’re plotting the itinerary of where he’s traveled. If he stopped somewhere, if he frequented somewhere. He said he came from São Paulo. He went to take his girlfriend to São Paulo to get some clothes to sleep here [in Barueri]. On the way back, the accident happened”
