Serial killer’s ex-wife goes viral when she talks about her marriage: ‘It sounds kind of crazy’Reproduction/Instagram

A woman who was married to serial killer Richard Evonitz has revealed how she found out she was married to a man who attacked and murdered teenage girls.

Bonnie Lou Gower was also a teenager when she married Evonitz in 1989. He was the brother of a classmate and was eight years her senior.

Through TikTok, she warned her followers about the warning signs. The marriage, which lasted eight years, was fraught with disturbing signs, from Evonitz not allowing Gower to attend college to insistently asking if she would flee the country with him – a suspicious question at the time when several girls in her community were murdered.

“Looking back, it sounds kind of crazy, but at the time I thought he was just stressed about work, because it was a big transition for him to get out of the military and move to Virginia, start a new life and try to get a job,” Gower said in one of his videos.

She plans to publish a book about her experience. Although Gower did not mention physical abuse, she claimed that her husband sent her to his family’s home, disapproved of her studying, working or making new friends, and even controlled her weight. “He really limited the amount of money I could spend on calls to my family,” Gower recalled.
