Cadillac V.Series-R may inspire new hypercar from the American brandDisclosure

The plans of General MotorsĀ for the Cadillac They seem to go through motorsport and high-performance cars. The manufacturer is GM’s representative in racing prototypes, and is studying an entry into Formula 1 in 2028. This involvement with motorsport could result in a hypercar for the road, a desire of the brand according to an executive.

The person responsible for unveiling this ambition from Cadillac was Michael Simcoe, head of global design at General Motors. In an interview with the CarSales portal, the executive said that a hypercar of the brand is a possibility.

“Could [Cadillac] build a hypercar? Yes. Would we like to produce one? Yes. Are we producing one? That would be too much to deliver,” said the executive.

Cadillac has never produced a high-horsepower, limited-run car. The closest to this was the Cien concept, presented in 2002 and with a 750 hp V12 engine located in the center of the vehicle.

Simcoe also stated that Cadillac’s hypercar would not necessarily be an electric, but could be a hybrid. This logic makes sense, considering that the regulations of the World Endurance Championship, where the V.Series R competes, and Formula 1 call for this engine.

In addition, GM already offers a hybrid sports package with the Corvette E-Ray, which delivers 663 hp of power and 82.29 kgfm of torque, combining V8 and electric motor.

A possible sports car, supercar or hypercar from Cadillac is expected to arrive in the next few years. Recently, the company has shown itself to be unafraid to explore new markets, as the Celestiq, a $340,000 model, was introduced last year to take on models from Rolls-Royce.

The Celestiq isĀ 100% electric and was part of Cadillac’s initial plans to become an electricĀ car brandĀ by 2030. The model delivers about 600 hp of power.
