Singer Miley Cyrus speaks for the first time about her parents’ divorce and the possible separation from her father Billy Ray Cyrus, in an interview with “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction”, last Wednesday, (12).
The show’s host, David Letterman, asked about the estrangement with her father, and Miley revealed gratitude for his teachings given to her. “Yes. I think what’s so beautiful is that my parents served their children. My parents served us and sacrificed a lot for us. Everything we dreamed of, they made possible,” he said.
“I’m grateful, first of all, for his genes. My dad has beautiful hair and I inherited that. But he has a down-to-earth relationship with what is real and nature. It always did, even when it was super famous. I’m grateful to be able to watch him in front of me. He’s kind of given me a map, a map of what to do and what not to do, and he’s been guiding me on both.”
The artist stated that without Billy, she wouldn’t get to where she is. “Without my dad, I know, not literally, but I wouldn’t be sitting in this chair. I wouldn’t exist,” he declared.
On the other hand, the singer did not fail to praise her mother, who was also a source of support in her trajectory. “My dad, as a creative and as an artist, in the way his brain works, has always made me feel more secure in my mind, because we’re very similar in some of our ideas. So, I think a lot of his perspective on reality and on life, I inherited from him, more than the way I was raised, because, in fact, it was my mother who raised me. Honestly, my mom is my hero,” Cyrus reflected.
Miley Biil and Leticia Cyrus’ parents separated in April last year. After the incident, the artist was no longer seen close to her father and stopped following him on Instagram, which led the public to suspect the estrangement.
