British film producer Tom Ackerley, who has been married to Margot Robbie for seven years, praised the Australian actress during an interview with The Sunday Times, saying the couple spend “24 hours a day” together.

“It’s perfect,” the filmmaker said when asked how they separate business and pleasure. “We don’t have an on and off switch. Everything has become one.”

Ackerley went on to say that she “feels like an honorary Australian” and “Margot feels like an honorary Brit.” He said the couple’s discussions boiled down to “whether Tim Tams or Penguins are better” – traditional sweets from their home countries, as well as some rivalry between Australia and England in sports.

The joint interview was to promote the recently launched gin brand Papa Salt, a partnership between the couple and three other friends. Robbie and Ackerley tied the knot in December 2016 in an intimate ceremony on Australia’s Gold Coast, and aside from a few appearances at events, they have kept to themselves privately about their personal lives.

In November 2023, Margot Robbie invited her husband to read an acceptance speech she wrote at Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles, California.

While accepting the award for producer of the year for her company LuckyChap Entertainment, the actress was left voiceless and unable to speak, so her husband and her producing partner Josey McNamara read on her behalf.

The trio co-founded LuckyChap with producer Sophia Kerr in 2014, and have since produced films such as “I, Tonya,” “Birds of Prey” and the highest-grossing movie of 2023, “Barbie.”

“Margot lost her voice about four days ago,” Tom Ackerley said, while Josey McNamara added, “So she wrote this speech that Tom and I are going to read, so we apologize in advance: this is not our strong point.”

During the speech, Margot Robbie made her husband say several times that he has a “crush” on singer Dua Lipa, who presented the award. “Over the past 10 years, I’ve watched as these two guys have dedicated their careers to supporting women in this industry, and nothing could make me love them more,” read the speech written by Margot Robbie.
