LeBron James‘ future in the NBA is set. After the number 23 turned down his old contract last week, the star agreed to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers for two more seasons.
According to ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, LeBron’s new contract was set at $104 million (about R$585 million).
The new agreement includes a clause that ‘bars’ the Lakers from trading the athlete, as well as a player option (unilateral contractual clause that allows the player to decide whether or not to remain in the last year of his contract with the franchise) in the 2025-26 season.
Rich Paul, LeBron’s agent, stated that the star was “prioritizing an improvement in the roster” while negotiating a new deal with the Lakers.
With the stay, James will have the opportunity to play alongside his son, Bronny, who was drafted by the team this year.
