The Tesla Cybertruck, pickup often described by Elon Musk as “indestructible” Due to its sturdy stainless steel frame, it has been the subject of several controversies and praise since its launch in late 2023. However, an accident that occurred recently in the state of Mississippi, in the United States, shows that the pickup is not resistant to all types of damage, much less physical damage.

Images released by a Facebook page  show the Cybertruck overturned, with visible dents on the left side and damage to the underside of the vehicle. The scene also reveals that the front wheel of the pickup was ripped off on impact. This is the first report of a Cybertruck that has flipped over, which ends up challenging the perception of its indestructibility.

The accident involved four passengers, three of whom were unharmed. However, one occupant suffered an injury to his arm and required medical attention. The page that released the images suggests that the vehicle was over the speed limit, and the driver lost control while making a right turn, and stopping in the opposite lane.

Although the Cybertruck is designed to withstand impacts such as gunfire and knocks, it is not invulnerable to the effects of a rollover. Remembering that vehicles with extremely resistant bodies can transfer the force of the impact into the cabin, which ends up increasing the risk of injury to the occupants.

This is because the body does not deform to absorb the energy generated in a collision. As a result, the energy of the impact is directly transmitted to the passengers, which can nullify even the action of the airbags.

This issue has already caused problems previously, at the end of 2019. Elon Musk’s automaker has faced difficulties in homologating its vehicle in Europe due to this problem of being “indestructible”. There, it is required that the front of the vehicle be damaged to absorb the impact in the event of a collision.
