A 2-year-old boy lost his mother and seven other relatives in the bus accident that happened in the early hours of Friday ( 5) in Itapetininga, in the interior of São Paulo. The child and her uncle are among the injured victims and both were sent to the Sorocaba Hospital Complex, according to information from SBT News.
In addition to the mother, the child lost four uncles, a couple of great-grandparents and a seven-year-old cousin. The initial information is that the boy’s family was responsible for organizing the trip and hiring the bus to Aparecida.
The child’s father was also on the bus. He suffered trauma to the leg area and was taken to another medical center.
According to the hospital’s advisory, the boy suffered a wound on his left foot that could lead to amputation. In addition, he suffered abrasions on his face and scrapes on his body. The medical team will perform a CT scan to better evaluate the case.
The uncle, in turn, did not need specialized care.
Accident
The accident left ten dead. Another five people were seriously injured, 24 with minor injuries and 12 moderate, according to Artesp. In total, there were 52 passengers, according to Bom dia SP, a Rede Globo program.
The bus, from the company Onix Turismo, left the city of Itapeva. According to the driver, the vehicle hit a pillar of an overpass due to a mechanical breakdown .
