The release of the Federal Police report on the sale of Saudi jewelry received by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) exposes evidence that links the former president to the case. Bolsonaro is suspected of crimes of criminal association, money laundering, and embezzlement and appropriation of public property.
In addition to the testimony of former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid, the PF also used bank statements, purchase and sale receipts, airline tickets, government letters and dispatches, photos and WhatsApp messages about the negotiation of jewelry in the investigations.
According to the report, which was released on Monday (8) by the PF, Bolsonaro knew about the purchase and sale of Saudi goods given to the federal government and even talked to those who were in charge of the negotiations. In addition, the document also exposes the participation of high-ranking military personnel and aides close to the former president in the case.
Mauro Cid’s father, General Lourena Cid, was one of the PF’s targets in this operation. He had his bank accounts analyzed by the corporation and admitted to having transferred US$ 68 thousand to Bolsonaro “in a fractional way according to the availability of meetings with the former president”.
“The analysis of the withdrawals made from the bank account of LOURENA CID from June 13 (date of receipt of the US$ 68 thousand dollars) until September 2022, when the investigated travels to be part of the presidential entourage, showed the outflow in cash of the amount of US$ 37,600.00,” said the PF.
The report also includes photos found on Mauro Cid’s computer in New York (USA), showing Bolsonaro, Lourena Cid and the lieutenant colonel talking in a hotel restaurant. At the time, the former president visited the city to attend the UN General Assembly and received cash from the general.
Lourena Cid also received, according to the PF, one of the three batches of jewelry that would be sold at her address in Florida. Messages show that the packages were delivered by Cristiano Piquet, a real estate businessman. In Brazil, the suitcase arrived on a plane of the presidential entourage and left Orlando for Miami in the broker’s car.
Among the files intercepted by the PF, there were also email exchanges with several possible buyers of the jewels. One of the messages shows a store salesman talking about the evaluation of the items, explaining that, in order for an analysis of the item to be done, they would have to remove parts of the palm tree sculpture that Bolsonaro received.
