On June 17, 2024, the Columbia Police announced the arrest of 19-year-old Audrey Miller for her alleged participation in the murder of Fasil Teklemariam, which took place in March in Washington, in the United States. Another woman is also suspected of having committed the crime.
Teklemariam, 53, was found fatally stabbed at his residence in the Northwest, with serious injuries to his body, including the amputation of his right thumb.
Miller, described as homeless, was located after months of intense investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Division.
She was arrested and now faces charges of first-degree murder with the use of a weapon. In addition to Miller, Tiffany Taylor Gray, 22, was also detained and faces the same charges related to the crime.
During the investigation, experts revealed that Teklemariam had multiple injuries, including to the head, legs and hands, in addition to the amputation of his right thumb.
Witnesses
Witnesses told investigators that Gray was in a relationship with the victim and that Miller would have used the amputated thumb to access the deceased’s banking apps and withdraw money.
The question of whether Miller and Gray acted together or whether one acted alone while the other is innocent is still under investigation.
Both remain in custody awaiting extradition proceedings to Washington, where they will be formally prosecuted and will have to provide clarifications to the justice system about the tragic incident that resulted in the death of Fasil Teklemariam.
