Three 3 x 3 basketball players and a student died after a serious car accident that occurred last Sunday (14), on the ERS-324 highway, in Rio Grande do Sul.

The youngsters were from Chapecó and were on their way to the city of Carazinho, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, to compete in an under-23 tournament. They were in a car that, according to information from the website “ND+”, lost control and crashed head-on with a truck.

Samuel Carlin, 20 years old, Enzo Candaten, 18 years old, Deivid Guimarães, 19 years old, and Milena Lazari, 16 years old, died in the accident. The CBB (Brazilian Basketball Confederation) issued a note through social networks lamenting the deaths of the young people and sending support to the bereaved families (see below).

“The Brazilian Basketball Confederation regrets and sympathizes with families, friends and our affiliates of the Santa Catarina Basketball Federation (FCB) after an accident this Sunday, on the ERS-324 highway, in Ronda Alta, city of Rio Grande do Sul, which killed four young basketball athletes on their way to a competition.
