A rare Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 is being auctioned in Germany. What makes this model so special is the fact that it is one of the rare examples of the Turbo version of the 964 generation and features the 3.6 engine, offered only in 1993 and 1994. It is estimated that around 3,600 Turbos of this generation were produced, with 1,500 units being equipped with a 3.6 engine.
Legend has it that Porsche had not been able to develop the turbo version of the 3.6 engine in time and used a reworked version of the 3.3 engine of the previous generation Porsche 911 (930), but with less turbo lag and more power.
In 1993, the 3.6 engine for the 911 generation 964 arrived in stores and the power rose from 320 to 360 hp and the torque was 53 kgfm.
The history of this specific unit says that it was initially delivered to the Carrera Motors dealership in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium, where it underwent regular maintenance until 2005, when the model was sold to Germany and ended up registered in the Netherlands.
In 2015, the model was sold again, but remained in the country, having all its maintenance carried out by the Porsche Centre in Rotterdam.
Before being auctioned, the model underwent an extensive review that verified more than 111 points. The odometer marks more than 175 thousand kilometers, showing that the model has run an average of 5.6 thousand km/year.
Interested parties should open their wallets, as the auction house RM Sotheby’s estimates that the model will sell between 275 thousand euros and 375 thousand euros, equivalent to R$ 1.66 million and 2.27 million, respectively.
