Simone Biles and the United States gymnastics team arrive in Paris already making history before the competitions even begin. This is because the uniform that will be worn by the athletes is the most expensive in the history of the Olympics.

With the right to more than 47 thousand Swarovski crystals in total, each leotard that will be worn by the athletes would cost about US$ 3,000 (R$ 16,9 thousand) to be purchased, thus, the kit received by each of the gymnasts totals US$ 24,000 (R$ 135 thousand). The information is from the website ‘LADbible’.

Of the eight designs in question developed for the team, the one with the largest number of crystals is the ‘Luminous Legacy’, accumulating more than 10 thousand precious stones, guarantees the ‘New York Times’.

The brand responsible for the uniforms was GK Elite, which recently explained the inspiration behind the collection.

“The collection draws inspiration from classic American patriotism and old Hollywood glamour, while blending sophisticated Parisian haute couture and bright lights to pay homage to the host city,” the brand wrote.
