The police of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, believe that Claudia Soares Alves, a doctor who kidnapped a newborn, premeditated the crime and acted alone. In addition, he had planned to pick up a girl.
Marcos Tadeu de Brito Brandão, chief delegate of Uberlândia, commented on the investigation and how Claudia walked by chance through the hospital, looking for a girl, but not necessarily Isabela, whom she kidnapped.
By chance, after finding three boys, Isabela was the first baby girl she saw in the hospital, as the policeman said:
“She enters the first room and has two newborn boys. Play that talk of hers, the doctor’s talk. He enters the second room, there is a boy and there is Isabella. She was looking for a girl and that girl would not necessarily be Isabela,” the officer told Fantástico.
Another factor that indicates the predisposition to commit the kidnapping is the complete trousseau that the doctor had. Claudia bought almost everything in pink: bags, clothes, bathtub, toys, etc.
There were also diapers, milk formula, towels and various other baby objects. The doctor said they were gifts for her maid, also pregnant.
Remember the case of a kidnapped baby
Claudia Soares Alves is a neurologist and teaches at the Hospital das Clínicas de Uberlândia. Posing as a pediatrician, he entered the hospital where he found the newborn he kidnapped.
Isabela, the baby, was with her parents in the room. Under the pretext of feeding the girl, Claudia took her out of the room, put her in a backpack and left the hospital. The girl was found a few hours later, uninjured and well.
The doctor’s defense alleges a psychological breakdown due to the woman’s bipolar disorder.
