It is not news that football players like to buy expensive cars, either for ostentation or because they simply prefer sports models. For Real Madrid players, the situation is a little different. Sponsored by BMW, the manufacturer lends its models for athletes to go from their homes to the Merengues’ training center, and Kylian Mbappe arrived at the club receiving one of the brand’s most expensive models.
The 25-year-old striker received a BMW i7 M70 xDrive, and according to the Spanish newspaper Marca, it is the same vehicle that the club’s president, Florentino Pérez, also drives. This version is the top of the line i7, and costs from 186.650 Euros, just over R$ 1.139 million in direct conversion. In Brazil, this option is not offered, but the i7 can be purchased here in the xDrive 60 MSport version for R$ 1.321.950.
What does Mbappe’s new BMW look like?
100% electric, the i7 M70 xDrive is the most expensive car offered by BMW in Spain, and can be considered a “limousine”. Rival of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and Bentley Flying Spur, the sedan is the pinnacle of luxury within the German brand.
Equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, the 5.39-meter-long sedan, with a wheelbase of 3.21 m; 1.95 m wide and 1.54 m high, can reach 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, even weighing 3.2 tons. The combined engines deliver 659 hp of power and 112.1 kgfm of torque. The battery has a capacity of 105.7 kWh and guarantees 560 km of range according to BMW.Â
The rear seat is the best seat in the i7
Despite not having a license, Mbappe You shouldn’t be too upset about traveling in the back seat of the i7. The sedan has executive armchair-style seats, but there is the optional 6.669 Euros (R$ 40,8 thousand), which adds adjustment options for the seats, center console in place of the middle seat, massage, ventilation, and the BMW Theater Screen, a 31,3-inch screen and 8K resolution with integrated Amazon Fire TV and that can receive, also, external equipment such as a Playstation, for example.Â
It is very likely that the model given to the French striker has these options, after all, Real Madrid would not like to see its main reinforcement for the season riding in a version that is not the top of the line, or that does not have the maximum possible comfort for the athlete.Â
Other Real Madrid athletes also won BMWÂ
In October last year, the other Real Madrid players received their BMW cars, always with a focus on electrification. All available models were from the i line, electric models, or the XM, the brand’s plug-in hybrid SUV. Only Nacho Fernandez, then team captain, chose the BMW i7, while most of the athletes took home the XM, the BMW iX, 100% electric, was also a hit with the athletes.
