Imane Khelif, a boxer who failed a gender test before the 2023 IBA World Boxing Championships, defeated Anna Luca Hamori, Hungary, in the quarterfinals of the 66 kg boxing cartegory tournament at the Paris Olympics.

With the victory, the Algerian secured a medal in the French edition of the Olympics, due to the fact that in Olympic boxing, there is no dispute for bronze, so all the semifinalists are confirmed on the podium.

Before this Saturday’s fight (3), Anna Luca commented on the controversy involving Imane’s participation in the Olympic Games.

“We haven’t fought or trained before. I don’t care about the stories or what’s happening on social media right now, I just want to stay focused on myself. I came here to win an Olympic Games medal. I’ll go to the ring and get my victory. I trust my coaches and I trust myself. I’m not afraid. Like I said, I don’t care about the story and social media,” Luca said.

The repercussion was such that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) spoke last Thursday (02) about the case. It should be noted that the information that Imane Khelif is a trans athlete is false.

“The attacks against these two athletes are based entirely on this arbitrary decision, which was made without any proper procedure – especially considering that these athletes have been participating in high-level competitions for many years.”
