Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro, received an unusual tourist on Wednesday (21): the buffalo Bill, whose “dream” was to enter the sea, according to the owner. Several locals, surprised, took photos and videos.
Rômulo Cavalcante, 36, is the owner of the buffalo – whose name is divided between Bill and the nickname “Diferentão”. But social networks, he published a video commenting:
“Boy, I’m going to fulfill Bill’s (buffalo) dream of entering the sea, he’s going all excited. The first thing he did when the water hit him was to run his tongue to taste it, he proved that he is really from Minas Gerais. He keeps looking at the sea, wanting to get in, he has never seen so much water.”
The two live in São José do Jacuri, in the interior of Minas Gerais – a state without a sea. To the newspaper O Dia, the animal’s owner explained that he loves water and swimming – hence the idea of taking him to the sea: “In my city, I went into lakes a lot with him. Then I thought: ‘One day, I’ll take him to the beach to make this dream come true.'”
Buffalo friend
Rômulo also commented on the friendly relationship between him and the animal:
“He is a very docile animal, our relationship is as if he were a pet, you call him, he comes, just like a dog, only very big. In all, they were Different and three other brothers, and he was the bravest. When he grew up, he started to like people more than others.”
The good reputation of the buffalo Bill gave the owner the idea of sharing the routine of the two on social networks starting today.
Government interferes in outing
One of the problems that apparently comes with taking a buffalo for a walk in Copacabana is the twisted nose of the authorities.
Agents from the Secretariat of Public Order (Seop) and Rio+Seguro approached Rômulo during the rides to guide them to the truck they came for.
“The man identified himself and presented all the animal’s documentation. The agents accompanied the animal and its owner to the truck that brought the two to Copacabana,” says Seop’s note about what happened.
Rômulo was heading from Rio de Janeiro to Barretos, a city in the interior of São Paulo with several cattle programs.
