A 58-year-old man took a pit viper snake to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, after being bitten by the snake in his right hand. He was caught holding the animal in the unit’s waiting room, as shown in a video obtained by g1.

In a statement, the City of Guarujá informed that the man entered the UPA of Perequê by his own means and held the live animal in a plastic bag. In addition, he added that the Environmental Defense Group (GDA), of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), was called to collect the snake.
The victim reported that he was bitten by the animal after noticing it in his work environment and trying to get it out of there.
As he did not know which species the snake was, he took it with him to the health unit for the doctor to identify and apply the antivenom.
The case happened on August 5, but only had repercussions now. The HSA did not disclose further information about the man’s health condition.
