Neymar’s press office spoke, on Monday (26), about the news that the player would have tried to return to Barcelona, but was barred by German coach Hansi Flick. Through the star’s official website, the communication team denied the information and declared that the rumor was a “lack of respect” for the athlete and his club, Al-Hilal.

“In addition to being a lie, this news is a tremendous lack of respect for the athlete and his club, Al-Hilal. Neymar Jr has a contract with the Saudi club, is happy in Riyadh and will soon return to the pitch to the delight of his fans around the world,” says the message released on the player’s social networks.

According to the Spanish channel “Jijantes”, Neymar would have offered himself to the Blaugrana team when he saw Barça’s search for a new striker. The idea, however, did not excite the German coach, who vetoed a possible negotiation for the number 10.

Neymar has a contract with Al Hilal until mid-2025. In his first season in the Middle East, the Brazilian took the field only five times due to a serious knee injury. In the final stretch of recovery, the striker is looking forward to returning to play in September.

Neymar has already tried to return to Barça

Although Neymar denies the attempt to return to Barcelona, the player has already tried to return to the team on other occasions. In early 2020, issues of values prevented a reunion. The Blaugrana club offered PSG around 110 million euros for the Brazilian, while the Parisian team asked for 130 million euros.

Last year, before Neymar headed to Al-Hilal, the name of the number 10 was once again ventilated at Barcelona. Running into problems with financial fair play and lack of reinforcements in other positions, the team led by Xavi decided not to go after the star.
