The BMW XM hardly goes unnoticed in places because of its disruptive look. The new edition of the model, the Mystique Allure, is sure not to go without turning a few necks, thanks to its purple velvet bodywork.
The creation is a partnership between BMW and British model Naomi Campbell, who has been an ambassador for the brand since March last year. The idea with the XM Mystique Allure is to represent the personality of the model and actress.
Parts of the exterior such as the hood, roof, and the top of the doors are covered in velvet, while the mirrors, doors, and BMW’s traditional double kidney grille are covered in a fabric covered in sequins.
The idea of mixing materials goes back to the fashion world, where this mix of elements is common. The fabric used in the car was supplied by Jakob Schlaepfer, known for manufacturing textile material for brands such as Dior and Chanel, a benchmark in the world of haute couture.
, the XM Mystique Allure – Mystical Fascination in a free translation from French – also has seats and door panels in purple velvet, the model’s favorite color, by the way. According to BMW, this material in the interior contributes to the feeling of relaxation and comfort in the rear seats of the XM.
The differences don’t stop at the coating and the differentiated color. Composer Hans Zimmer, known for the soundtrack of Interstellar, Dune, Gladiator, Inception, The Da Vinci Code, The Lion King and more, composed special scores for the XM exclusive version. The car makes unique sounds when approaching and entering.
Under the hood nothing changes. The XM is still equipped with the plug-in hybrid set. In the XM 50e version, there are 476 hp combining electric and combustion motors. In the top-of-the-line option, the Label Red, the electric powertrain works together with a 4.4-liter V8, which combine for 748 hp of maximum power.
The one-of-a-kind model will be worn by the model during the Cannes Film Festival in France.
