Actor Marcello Antony spoke about the decision to migrate to the real estate sales business. Last week, the former Globo heartthrob surprised netizens by announcing that he is now also a luxury real estate broker in Portugal.

Contrary to what has been speculated, Marcello Antony did not leave his artistic career for good, however, he now reconciles it with business involving luxurious mansions. “My profession allows me to be an actor until I’m old, until I made the pass [dying],” he explained in an interview with Monica Bergamo, from Folha de São Paulo.

In the conversation, the actor was categorical in saying that he is not abandoning acting and explained that he can currently choose the projects he wants to participate in. “I’ve already been asked to do some soap operas, and I didn’t accept,” he revealed.

“I’m much more selective because, as I’ve done a lot of characters, I don’t see the invitations as a professional challenge for me. It’s an empty, shallow thing, I’m not enthusiastic. If it’s just to hit a point there, I’d rather not do it,” he added.

Regarding the new profession, Marcello did not lie when he pointed out that money is one of the main attractions, however, he highlighted that he also chose it because it is an interesting novelty. “I wouldn’t want the headline to be that I’m here for the money. That’s very shallow. I’m also for the motivation and the challenge. It’s like I’m premiering a new soap opera,” he exemplified.

Marcello Antony is now part of one of the largest luxury real estate companies. For him, because these are robust enterprises, it is impactful to participate in the realization of dreams that involve families.

“Generally, those who are going to buy a property like this will live there forever, they will want to raise their family. And being able to provide that accurate shot makes me horny, you know […] I wouldn’t go into a simple agency,” he said.

The value of the properties advertised by the company The Agency, which has a series on Netflix, ranges from R$ 22 million to R$ 125 million.

“The real estate commission of this size is almost millionaires,” he explained. “They’re dreams of home, they’re dreams of apartments. So [presenting] it interests me, it’s really cool to do,” he revealed.

Living in Portugal since 2018, Marcello Antony also ruled out returning to Brazil. “My children are well adapted, they don’t want to go back. The security here is absurd. I’m from Rio de Janeiro, it’s unfeasible for me to live in Rio de Janeiro these days,” she said.
