Fishermen from Alagoas found a human skull at the bottom of a dam in the city of Mar Vermelho on June 6. The bones left citizens surprised, as they were inside a lake in the central square of the municipality.
In the region of 3,600 inhabitants, there had been no reports of missing persons for decades, and no one had any idea who the skull might be.
The Scientific Police of Alagoas was called, and sent the skull to the IML Estácio de Lima, in Maceió. There, he was the subject of several anthropology and dentistry examinations by Dr. João Alfredo Guimarães.
