Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said he was available to provide clarification on the accusations against him. The speech took place on Saturday morning (6), during the opening of CPAC, an event that takes place in Balneário Camboriú (SC) and brings together conservative names and politicians.

“The press that criticizes me, the mainstream press, once again I am at your disposal, for two hours live to be questioned about anything,” he said.

This week, Bolsonaro was indicted by the Federal Police for embezzlement (appropriation of public assets), criminal association and money laundering in the jewelry investigation. The Federal Police forwarded the report with details of the crimes to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, rapporteur of the case.

“If they think they will wear me out, social media gave us freedom, so they want to censor,” he said. “I repeat, I am available for two hours, to discuss any subject, live, without edits and manipulations,” he added.

He was applauded after the speech, with shouts of “come back, Bolsonaro”. At the time, he also said that he has no ambition for power, but an “obsession with our Brazil”.

The former head of the Executive also called the PT, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s party, the “Trambique Party” and said that he learned what the left is capable of in 1970, ten years before the party was created.

In addition to the former president, other allies and aides of Bolsonaro were also indicted by the Federal Police. Among them, former lieutenant Mauro Cid, and lawyers Fabio Wajngarten and Frederico Wasseff. See all indicted below.

According to PF investigations, Bolsonaro received the jewels from Saudi leaders during his term and began trading them in the United States in June 2022.

Event in Santa Catarina

This weekend, names and politicians of the extreme right gather at the CPAC Brasil event in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina. Among the confirmed presences are former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is an event that has existed since 1974, but in Brazil, it has been taking place since October 2019. At the time, it was held in São Paulo, and this year, it takes place between July 6 and 7 in Balneário Camboriú.
