During a press conference on Friday (9), Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola confirmed that Julián Álvarez decided to leave the club and will strengthen Atletico Madrid. Without giving too many details, the coach commented on the Argentine’s situation and sent a message to the striker.

“I don’t know why, but he told me that he wants a new challenge, that he feels that is what he needs to do. Last season, he played many times, at times with Erling [Haaland], but I understand that at certain times he didn’t play,” he began.

“If you’re not happy, why should you be here? He wants to leave and Atletico Madrid is a top club, so everything is fine. Good luck to him, we like Alvarez a lot, we won everything. I wish you all the best. The clubs have reached an agreement and that’s it,” added Guardiola.

Values

According to the international press, the colchoneros paid around 75 million euros (R$ 451 million) for the signing of Álvarez from Manchester City, in addition to another 20 million euros (R$ 121 million) for goals.
