A five-year-old child died after a toy accident at school. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon (15), at a private school in Barretos, São Paulo.
Edson Marcondes, Arthur’s grandfather, told g1 that there was a birthday party at school, and Arthur was playing when, around 5:40 pm, a playhouse fell on top of the child.
The school said it immediately rescued Arthur, and police records show that the boy was taken to Santa Casa and received emergency care. However, in the sequence, the doctor declared him dead.
Arthur was buried this Friday (16), at 11 am.
Position of the school
The accident happened at Colégio Plus, a private school in the América neighborhood, in Barretos. The school published a note of condolence on Instagram and sent a press release to EPTV, TV Globo’s affiliate in the region.
The educational team said that it deeply regrets “the serious accident that killed the student”, and explained that the school’s equipment is up to date and the children were under adult supervision, who immediately helped him.
The institution promised to provide all assistance to Arthur’s parents and family, in addition to opening the doors for the authorities to investigate.

“The entire community of Colégio PLUS is in prayers at this time of mourning and sadness. We deeply regret the death of our beloved student Arthur from Kindergarten 5, who, despite having been promptly attended at school and at Santa Casa, unfortunately did not survive.
The Direction, Coordination, Teachers and colleagues sympathize with the parents, other family members and friends of our dear Arthur. Out of respect for his memory, the school institution decrees official mourning for three days.”
