After shocking the football world and revealing he has cancer terminal in the pancreas, former coach Sven-Göran Eriksson sent an emotional farewell message during the recording of his documentary on Amazon Prime.
Reflecting on life, at this moment when he is close to the end, the coach says he has lived well.
“I think we are all afraid of the day it ends, when we die. But life is also about death. You have to learn to accept it, of what it is,” he said.
“I hope that in the end, people will say, ‘Yes, he was a good man.’ But not everyone will say that,” Sven said.
The former coach also revealed how he would like to be remembered after death, and asked fans not to “regret it”, but to “smile” when remembering him and his achievements.
“I hope you remember me as a positive guy trying to do everything I could. Don’t apologize. Smile. Thank you for everything – coaches, players, the fans. It was fantastic. Take care of yourself, take care of your life and live it. Bye,” he concluded.
Titled “Sven”, the documentary arrives on Amazon Prime Video on August 23rd. The production tells about the life and career of the iconic coach.
Career
Sven-Göran Eriksson shone in his career as a coach, playing for clubs such as Leicester, Manchester City, Benfica, Roma and the Mexican national team. He was marked by commanding the English national team from 2001 to 2006.
