Recovered from the flu-like illness that kept him out of the match against Marcílio Dias, Payet returned to training for Vasco. Ramón Díaz’s team trained on Thursday morning (29) at the Moacyr Barbosa training center, with the Frenchman in attendance.

The training session is in preparation for Sunday’s (3) match against Portuguesa, in the 11th and final round of the Guanabara Cup. The match could also earn Vasco a place in the semi-finals of the Carioca.

Payet took part in the activity as normal and should be available to coach Ramón Díaz again. He was absent against Marcílio Dias last Tuesday (27) due to a cold, according to the club.

As he was recovering, Thursday marked Payet’s first training session of the week. He didn’t even travel to Itajaí, staying in Rio so that he could improve and be fit for Sunday.

Payet, however, wasn’t missed in the game against Marcílio Dias, as Vasco won 3-1 and advanced to the second round of the Copa do Brasil. Now, the search is on for a place in the semi-final of the Carioca.

The tickets for the match against Portuguesa on Sunday, incidentally, are already sold out. The match will mark the fans’ reunion with São Januário, which hasn’t hosted a game for 35 days.
