Flamengo came from behind to beat Aucas 2-1 on Thursday (7) in Group C of the Under-20 Libertadores. Iago and Wallace Yan scored the goals for the Reds at the Domingo Burgueño Stadium in Maldonado. The three points, by the way, ensured that the Mais Querido finished top of the group, with two wins from two games.
Flamengo now return to the field on Sunday, when they face Sporting Crital, from Peru, at 15:00 (Brasília time).
How the game went
The first half in Maldonado was a very even and disputed game. On the whole, Flamengo had the better chances, but they also fell short. The Brazilian side came close to opening the scoring in the 36th minute, when Shola was brought down by Zova inside the area. However, Rayan Lucas went for the penalty and hit the crossbar. At Aucas, the player who gave the red-black defenders the most trouble was No. 10 Zambrano.
Second half
Flamengo came back well from the break, putting pressure on the Ecuadorian side. However, the Aucas defense failed to take advantage and scored 13 minutes into the second half. Conforme took advantage of Felipe Briana’s gift and took it away from goalkeeper Lucas Furtado. But the Mais Querido’s response came in the next move, with Iago, the team’s captain, who took advantage of a corner kick and made things equal.
With good marking in place, Flamengo made it difficult for Aucas to play the ball on the ground. In other words, for much of the second half, the Ecuadorean side could only get out of their defensive zone by kicking the ball. In the 20th minute, the Reds complained about a penalty not awarded to Felipe Brian. The comeback goal came in the 37th minute when Wallace Yan headed in after a great individual move by Caio Garcia. Until the end of the game, the Brazilians sought to control the score, without exposing themselves on the pitch.
