Dodge kills the Charger’s V8, born in 1968, to enter a new era: the electricPublicity

Dodge has revealed the first images of the new generation of the Charger, which will have combustion engine options as well as 100% electric, for the first time in the muscle car’s history.

Sales will begin precisely with the electric engine versions, which should hit the market later this year. The most affordable options will have 503 hp of power, courtesy of two electric motors. In the future there will also be a 580 hp version. Dodge claims that the electric Charger reaches 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

There will also be a version with an 800-volt electric architecture – twice as much as the entry-level Charger – which promises to be even more powerful and faster than the soon-to-be-released model. This version, dubbed the Banshee, will be produced from 2024.

The Charger Daytona will be offered in two versions: R/T and Scat Pack, already traditional names in the Charger line.

Also according to Dodge, the model will be offered with 100.5 kWh batteries, which guarantee 510 km of maximum range in the R/T version, being able to recharge from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes.

The Charger Daytona features multilink suspension at the front and independent at the rear wheels. There will also be an optional package focused on track use that will add semi-active double-valve suspension and adaptive dampers.

Speaking of tracks, Dodge has prepared a new configuration for the powertrain of the electric Charger Daytona. Knowing that the model should go to the race or drag tracks, the model has been given a new starting preparation system, which leaves the battery cooler and allows drivers to achieve more laps on circuits.

For those who are going to race, the Charger Daytona has a special mode that allows the rear tires to warm up, as well as modes for drifts and zeroes.

In addition to the electric charger, Dodge will offer the muscle car with a combustion engine, the propellant has not yet been confirmed, however, a V8 option is ruled out.

We only know that the model will deliver between 420 and 550 hp of power and all-wheel drive.

The new Charger Daytona will be the first car produced from the STLA Large platform, the largest and most powerful structure dedicated to electric cars from Stelllantis.

Electric motorization will have more than one versionReproduction

The car will be 5.25 m long, 1.5 m high and with a 2.03 m wheelbase. There will be two bodies available: sedan and coupe, with no major differences between them.

Internally, the Charger Daytona offers a 10.25-inch screen as the instrument panel, which can be replaced by a 16-inch screen as an option. The multimedia center has 12.3 inches.

One item seen in the concept and brought to the production car is the panoramic glass roof, which will be optional, as well as the lighting system that has 64 color options and can be modified according to actions taken in the vehicle.

Prices have not yet been revealed, but it is very likely that the asking price will be quite high, since the production costs of an electric car are higher.
