The fans of Real Madrid have started a campaign for the striker Vinicius Júnior to win the Ballon d’Or, a traditional award from “France Football” magazine that elects the best player in the world annually.
During the celebration of winning the 2023/2024 Spanish Championship, this Sunday (12), Madrid fans praised the Brazilian and chanted: “Vinicius, Ballon d’Or”.
Also supporting the campaign was teammate Jude Bellingham, one of Real’s stars. In an interview alongside the Brazilian, the Englishman said he was next to the best in the world.

Strong candidate
The main player of the national tournament, Vinicius Júnior was also a protagonist in Real Madrid’s qualification for the Champions League final – the team will face Borussia Dortmund in the final of the tournament.
In another excellent season for the Madrid team, Vinicius Júnior has 21 goals and 11 assists in 36 matches. He is one of the main contenders for the Ballon d’Or and The Best awards – the latter is organized by FIFA, football’s governing body.
In the 2024 edition, the two awards will take into account the players’ performances in the Copa America and Euro Cup, scheduled to take place in the middle of this year. Vini Jr. was called up to represent the Brazilian national team in the South American tournament.
Vini’s best position
The campaign for Vinicius Junior to win the Ballon d’Or is not just about clubism for Real Madrid fans. In the last two editions, the player formed in Flamengo’s academy was on the list of the 10 most voted.
In 2022, the year Vini scored the goal that won the Champions League title, the Brazilian finished in eighth place. Karim Benzema, the team’s protagonist at the time, took the award.
Last season, Vini took over as the team’s best player and finished sixth in the awards. A World Cup winner with Argentina, Messi was the winner, followed by Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, De Bruyne and Rodri.
The 2024 edition of the Ballon d’Or has not yet been scheduled.
