This is not the first controversial episode involving Guga de Paula. Previously, the City Council rejected a request for impeachment after a complaint of armed persecution by the mayor.

Guga has also been previously arrested for a similar incident and is known for controversial behavior, such as in 2017 during the May Festival.

The repercussion of the video and the mayor’s statements have generated intense debates on social networks. Many voters and citizens expressed outrage at the mayor’s actions, while others argue that he was in a party atmosphere and may have been misunderstood.

So far, there has been no official statement from the Municipality of Cantagalo on the case.
