A bride went through a very boring situation on what was supposed to be one of the best days of her life. While enjoying her own wedding party in Cyprus, Europe, a British woman decided to check her cell phone and got a fright when she got Coming across a message from her boss saying she was being fired.
The bride shared the story with YouTuber Ben Askins and claimed that her boss – and other co-workers – knew that this was the day she was getting married.
“He began, ‘I hope everything went well and that you had a good time on your wedding day,'” the bride said, who then read the rest of the message:
“‘I just wanted to let you know that unfortunately we made the decision to send you away. We’ll send you an email with more details about it. It didn’t work out and I wish you all the best in the future.'”
The Briton detailed how she had the first feeling that all was not well. “The first thing I noticed was that I was blocked and removed from all [company] WhatsApp groups,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh, what’s going on here?'”
“And then I saw [my boss’s] message. All my friends were [sitting] around me and I just choked. Then, of course, the next thing you do is check your emails,” he continued.
In the official termination email, the woman was told she was losing her job because her “performance does not meet the expectations we require for the role.”
The bride, however, claimed to Askins that she never received any indication that her performance was not up to par, and said she suspects the company had been planning to fire her for some time.
“Recently, they hired someone for our team, who [now come to think of it] I think has been my replacement this whole time,” she explained, reiterating that the new employee started on the same day she was away to get married.
The Brit says she is “very angry” at the way her former employer handled the situation. “I think it was a bit of a cowardly way to do it while I wasn’t there. They had the opportunity to do it in person.”
Now, instead of enjoying this new chapter of her life with her new husband, the woman is busy looking for a new job. “All I’ve been doing is applying for jobs,” she said.
