Known for having given life to the villain Jill Prescott in “Scream 4”, actress Emma Roberts, 33, criticized the label of& nbsp; “nepo baby” that she carries because she is the niece of Julia Roberts, one of the most influential performers in the Hollywood film industry.
The statements were made during an interview with the “Table for Two” podcast on Tuesday (25). Even with the privilege of being related to a person already respected in the art world, Emma says that people who criticize “nepo babies” fail to see “all the rejection” they suffer “along the way.”
“I think there’s something to be said about everyone loving the kind of overnight success story. People only see your wins because they only see you when you’re on a movie poster. They don’t see all the rejection along the way,” the actress argued.
“That’s why I’m always very open about the things I auditioned for that I didn’t get the part for. I think it’s important to talk about it. Otherwise, people just think it’s all been so good and linear and easy, and no, it’s not like that at all,” the “Nerve” star added.
For Emma, being related to an influential person in the industry also has a downside. This is because, according to her, if someone has had a bad experience with your family member, you will also be harmed. “I think there are two sides to the coin,” he said.
“People like to say, ‘You have an advantage because you have family in the industry.’ But the flip side of that is that you need to prove yourself more. Also, if people don’t have good experiences with other people in your family, you’ll never stand a chance.”
The interpreter of Jill in “Scream 4” also pointed out that people “roll their eyes” at the nepo babies. “If you’re not the girl from the middle of nowhere who stormed Hollywood, there’s kind of an eye roll like, ‘Well, your dad was that,'” she complained.
Meet Emma Roberts
Niece of Julia Roberts, the actress collects a vast curriculum in comedy, romance and horror films and series. “Aquamarine,” a classic romantic comedy, is one of the most famous films of her career. The performer also gained prominence with “American Horror Story”, a series in which she starred in several seasons.
In this series, Emma was even accused of transphobia by one of her co-stars. According to trans actress Angelica Ross, Julia Roberts’ niece was transphobic and created a toxic environment on film sets. After the controversy, Emma apologized to Angelica.
